Dyslexia Assessment

I am not able to take bookings before summer 2025

Hello, my name is Jay Scott-Hamilton and I set up Dyslexia South West in 2017 to provide dyslexia assessments and support in a relaxed, friendly and calm environment.

If you think you may be Dyslexic, or are in need of a full diagnostic assessment for University, you're in the right place.

I offer a full diagnostic Dyslexia assessment for people aged 16 years and over, which can be used when applying for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) for University study.

*Please note that bookings are a request for a date only. I have a short waiting list and may need to offer an alternative date to the one selected.

I no longer offer dyslexia screening as there are a range of good online options available. The 'Do-ITProfiler' is a good option for about £20

Assessment Location

Following restrictions around Covid 19, all assessments  will continue to take place at my home office in Exeter. I have a perspex desk screen available on request and hand sanitiser available to use. All surfaces will be cleaned with antibacterial spray before and after each assessment. To improve air circulation, the door may be left open during assessments so please check the weather before coming as you may want to bring warm clothes.

With over ten years experience in teaching and supporting students across a wide range of subjects, levels of study and differing needs, I have a good understanding of the difficulties faced by students.

I support students with specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia), Autism, mental health problems and anxiety.

I am a Specialist Teacher accredited by the British Dyslexia Association and hold a current Assessment Practicing Certificate. I am also professional member of PATOSS
